Congratulations to the 2025 Recipients!

Payton Brookshire

Yolo County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that Payton Brookshire has been awarded the Yolo County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers scholarship for 2025.

Payton is a graduate of Woodland Christian High School. She’s been active in 4-H for a decade, earning multiple Champion and Reserve Champion awards for Lambs, Sheep, Beef and Swine, along with Champion Large Animal Master Showman three times, and coaching younger members to their own Champion standings. She has been an active member of her FFA Section as well, holding Sentinel and Secretary offices, and earning her State Degree, Star Chapter Farmer, and Star Chapter Greenhand along with multiple Champion Showman awards. While she took pride in earning awards, what stood out most were the conversations with visitors, answering questions and explaining where food comes from, how animals are cared for and why agriculture matters. She is focused on Judging and will continue to participate in Lake Land College’s nationally recognized livestock judging team in Mattoon, Illinois, where she intends to pursue her agriculture teaching degree. She wants “to help bridge the growing gap between agriculture and the public by teaching students not just about farming, but about the value and science behind it”.

Congratulations, Payton!

Allison Aguiar

Yolo County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce that Allison Aguiar has been awarded the Yolo County Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers scholarship for 2025.

Allison is a graduate of Winters High School and was an intern with Cogent Ag Consulting. She was a member of varsity volleyball (captain), Softball and basketball (captain), as well as Chapter Secretary, Vice President and President of Winters FFA consecutively. She has won awards for FFA Leadership and Career Development, including 1st Individual Ag Sales (National), 2nd Individual CA Water Issues (State) and 1st Prepared Speaking (State) for which she spent months researching, interviewing and writing, focusing on the fall of the California nut industry in hopes of educating others on what the industry was going through and to seek out a solution. This 1st place win allowed her to take her speech to the national stage at the National FFA Convention and showed her the impact that educating others through advocacy can have in the agricultural industry and further excited her to pursue a pathway of agricultural policy. Allison will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo studying Agricultural Communication.

Congratulations, Allison!
