Charlie Rominger Memorial Scholarship

In Memory of Charlie Rominger

The Yolo County Farm Bureau Education Corporation Charlie Rominger Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Charlie Rominger. Charlie was a long-time Director of the Yolo County Farm Bureau and served as the Chair of the Taxes and Land Use Committee Chair. He worked very hard to protect and preserve Yolo County's agricultural lands.

This scholarship is designed to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry.

This $1,500 scholarship is awarded based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture.

Yolo County High School seniors entering a four-year accredited college or university or a Junior College AND pursuing a career in the agricultural industry are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students must be a resident of the State of California and a US citizen.


The application deadline is April 16, 2021.

2019-2020 Scholarship Recipient - Kassidy Talbot

Yolo County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce Kassidy Talbot has been chosen to receive the 2019 Yolo County Farm Charlie Rominger Memorial Scholarship. Kassidy is the daughter of Terry and Darlene Talbot.

Kassidy is currently attending Woodland Christian High School and has a 4.2 GPA. Over the last four years at Woodland Christian, Kassidy has been the recipient of many awards, including the Blue & Gold award, first place in Sheep Showmanship, Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, MVP of the JV Volleyball Team, and the Cardinal Award for Varsity Softball. She has also served as Chapter President and been awarded her State Degree.

In her free time, Kassidy has worked as an office assistant, worked on the family farm, and managed her own floral business.

Kassidy will be attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall and plans to major in Agricultural or Environmental Plant Science. She will be pursuing a career in plant breeding.

2019-2020 Recipient - Valeria Acosta Arreola

Yolo County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce Valeria Acosta Arreola has been chosen to receive the 2019 Yolo County Farm Charlie Rominger Memorial Scholarship. Valeria is the daughter of Rosa Elena Cornejo.

Valeria is currently attending Woodland High School and will be graduating this spring. Over the last four years at Woodland High School, Valeria has been very involved with FFA and the Vet Science Team. She has been awarded her State Degree and has enjoyed raising a pigs and steers for Yolo County Fair.

Outside of school Valeria volunteers her time to help the Clever Clovers 4-H, provides customer service at K & M Floral, and holds a Veterinary Science Internship at Gold Coast Veterinary Science & Consulting.

Valeria will be attending Modesto Junior College to study Animal Science. She hopes to continue on to UC Davis Veterinary School and pursue a career as a livestock veterinarian.
