Irrigated Lands Program

The Irrigated Lands Program is a State Mandated Program

  • Your client could be randomly chosen to have a Site Inspection if they own Irrigated Lands

If your client is the owner and grower, they are required to complete multiple annual reports

  • Irrigated parcels are subject to a random site inspection by the Regional Board, including a review of the following required reports:
    • An annual Farm Evaluation Survey, a Sediment & Erosion Control Plan, if the parcel has been designated as having the potential to discharge sediment, an annual Nitrogen Management Plan and a Nitrogen Management Summary Report, if the parcel is located in high vulnerability area for nitrates
  • Fines are being issued by the Regional Board for non-compliance, up to $1,000 per day

* SGMA is the 2014 Sustainable Groundwater Act signed by the Governor requiring all subbasins in California to form an Agency and then a Plan to show their groundwater is Sustainable or has a plan to become Sustainable
* Landowners need to be aware of this legislation requiring all counties in California to show they have a sustainable groundwater program
